I know your views on classic-move rape.
One potential one troubles me more than any other right now.
A seminal 80s classic, quoted by boys in playgrounds, whether they had seen it or not.
‘Put down your weapon… you have 20 seconds to comply.’
There is however, so little to actually go on… all we really have is this:

and this…
In March 2008, however, RoboCop was mentioned in an MGM press release regarding franchises it would be focusing on in the future. An MGM poster displayed at the Licensing International Expo of June 2008 read, “RoboCop coming 2010″. The studio has met with Darren Aronofsky to discuss the possibility of his directing the film. At the San Diego Comic-Con 2008 Aronofsky has been confirmed to direct the “2010 Robocop” movie with David Self writing the script. Release has now been postponed to 2011.’
Right. So this classic action movie, which in truth was quite a satirical, paranoia fuelled tale of body alienation to begin with, could in the hands of Aronofsky become an even more paranoid and depressive tale of the rape of one mans humanity, coupled with some trippy visuals.
Interesting, if not a popcorn flick.
Until of course, Darren quits and Uwe Boll gets attached to direct, or worse, Michael Bay…

If Aronofsky is directing it, then it could actually be interesting, and as you say, create a deeper and more complex film. A great director can do that to an existing story/idea. Like Nolan did with Batman.
However, when remakes are done as mere cashcows, expoiting a ready made audience, and a stupidly large budget of CGI and explosions, then formerly great movies do get ass-raped.
And hear me now. Nobody must ever try to remake BTTF. Do you hear me world!? Nobody. I don’t care if it is 2015, and it turns out we don’t have hoverboards after all!!
Hi, nice to meet you !
