The rise of James Purefoy… And about time too!

It is easy to forget, in the humdrum of life, that there are always things for which to be grateful. And the fact that the lovely, handsome James Purefoy is finally getting the kind of big budget, lead roles he deserves is certainly one of them.

After all, every woman wants only three things from her leading man – tall, dark and handsome. And for years now Mr Purefoy has been brooding in the fringes of our screens, popping up as the Black Prince in A Knight’s Tale, Rawdon Crawley in Vanity Fair, and as the greatest dandy of all time, Beau Brummell, in the recent biopic, Beau Brummell: This Charming Man.

And perhaps it is this penchant for the historical man which has lead to his recent casting in Solomon Kane, and the upcoming Ironclad, about rebel barons around the time of Magna Carta. I sincerely hope the world starts taking more notice of James Purefoy… I know he’s been in my list for  long time…

ps. I must admit to being extremely excited about Ironclad! Not only is it a medieval movie, but it’s not even about Robin Hood! In fact, I have been saying for a long time that the exploits of the rebel barons in the court of King John, and the Greatest Knight, William Marshall, would make an amazing movie. Despite the inevitable historical inaccuracies, I am still very much looking forward to when this film comes out!
