I have never made a secret of the fact that I believe Back to the Future to be the greatest movie of all time.

To me, no other film has ever managed to equal it’s amazing, genre bending, time travelling awesomeness. (Ok, I’m not a movie critic – if you want to know why BTTF is so awesome read this article from The Guardian which says it better than I can!)

It was the first movie I remember seeing at the cinema. I used to watch it so many times that I knew (and still know) the whole thing off by heart. I remember watching it in my head as a kid when I was going to sleep (although, I never got much further than “Damn, I’m late for school!” before I fell asleep!)

One night in my late teens I watched it with a group of friends on some mind-altering substances and we were absolutely adamant that Marty McFly was the coolest guy ever. And now I still pull out Johnny Be Goode and The Power of Love at karaoke nights, complete with plenty of quotes – “1.21 gigawatts”, “Great Scott!”, “Wait a minute Doc, are you telling me that you built a time machine, out of a Delorean?”, “Hello Chuck, this is your cousin Marvin, Marvin Berry. You know that new sound you were looking for? Well listen to this!”

So it’s very exciting that after 25 years (and most of the lifetime I actually have memory of) it’s anniversary time and everyone is talking about Back to the Future again. As they should be! It has been rereleased in UK cinemas, there are anniversary specials left right and centre, and it is finally being appreciated as one of the (if not the) greatest movies ever!

Here’s to you Marty!
